Cherrytree Support Services Ltd.

Psychologically Informed environments

We are proud to have implemented a Psychologically informed environment (PIE) and are working towards Trauma Informed Care (TIC) within the organisation.

What is PIE?

PIE is an approach to the way that we run our service and to how our staff support the young people using our services. All of our staff are trained within this framework, to support them to work efficiently with young people who have experienced complex trauma. The approach is centred around understanding the wellbeing of the young people using the service; considering their thoughts, personalities and their past experiences, when supporting them.

What is TIC?

Trauma informed Care is mainly centred around considering the past experiences of young people using the service. A high proportion of people using homelessness services have previosuly experienced trauma, so it is important to acknowledge that these experiences will affect how a person related to the world.

Cherrytree's Psychologically Informed Environment

As part of being a PIE organisation, all our staff take part in comprehensive training to help equip them with the knowledge, and skills to collaborate with the young people they support.

As an organisation, we also commit to regular reflective practice, engaging staff and young people to think about what is going well, what is difficult, and whether there is anything that can be done to improve any given situation.
